Ma Alice told her family that the remedies she carried were not hers alone.

Born in 1928, Mary Alice Lymon Finney lived through an era defined by simplicity, resilience, and close family bonds. In the twentieth-century South, life was sustained through practical knowledge, devotion to family, and deep respect for the natural provisions found in the garden and kitchen pantry.
She was a woman of faith and devotion, whose life spanned eighty-four years of quiet guidance, enduring until her passing in 2012. Her character was etched in the minds of everyone who knew her — not through ostentation, but through patience, warmth, and steady attentiveness to the well-being of those she loved.

While she was known formally as Mary Alice, within the warmth of her home and among children, grandchildren, and neighbors, she was affectionately called “Ma Alice.”
